Biodiversity values management research report 2024-25 released

summary report cover The FPA has just released a report summarising recent research that contributes to our understanding of the effectiveness of biodiversity management under the Tasmanian forest practices system.

Amy Koch, the FPA’s Biodiversity Research Coordinator, produces this report every year, highlighting the adaptive management framework of the Tasmanian forest practices system which includes an emphasis on research, review and continual improvement.

The results of research can inform changes in management under the forest practices system. Over the last year, habitat descriptions have been updated, 3 technical notes were updated, a review of management approaches initiated for masked owl and giant freshwater crayfish, and a review of Tasmanian devil management was completed.

Once again, the report compiles relevant research, both affiliated and unaffiliated with the FPA. We recommend you dip into it to find out some gems. This year, the title has been changed to better reflect the content of the report. The series of reports were previously titled Monitoring the effectiveness of the biodiversity provisions of the Tasmanian Forest Practices Code but the title is now A synopsis of research and monitoring contributing to management of biodiversity values under the Tasmanian forest practices system 2024–2025.
